Aug 2018 - a copy being sold for €140 . . . . . . WTF?!!! Few years ago, (when the price was still "cheap" - around €60) I found a copy of this one day on the street near my house, among a pile of garbage that one of the new neighbors who just got it left outside... Mint condition... I guess that that was a once in a lifetime luck :-)

Seriously, this is the most over-rated Goa album in my books. Sound palette is ridiculously limited, tracks seem to play around with the same sounds continuously without evolving into anything new a production is poor though that is the last (if ever) issue for me considering especially when it was produced. Hell, I even consider Planet B.E.N. - Trippy Future Garden much better. To counter that the last track is quite nice and unique, and needless to say, the only good track for me. While still using the same sounds and technique like the previous five, it has a very strong story telling structure and manages to grab your attention most of the time despite being a quarter of an hour long. This track is conveniently available on the Boyd in the Void compilation so if you buy that you have the only good track in this album.1995? Japan? Yes, and so? Not everything exotic that was produced in that year necessarily shines like a polished diamond. If you want something much better costing much less than this then get Tokyo Tekno Tribe.

Don't know why people buy stuff and then complain. Listen before you just buy it :)In my opinion, this is one of the most musicaly developed album from that time. And no, i don't speak about production technique (which is sadly the only skill of many of the producers today).Close your eyes and listen to time traveller in trance.... this is a masterpiece and i still get goosebumps when listening to it.

Masayuki Kurihara and Ray Castle are two, bar none, pioneers of the international goa trance scene, but their input in its general development is beyond words, anywhere from Japan down to Australia. That said, their 1995 debut, and thus far only collaboration, under the name Masaray, is a heavily sought after album hailing from the far away lands of Australia, and released under the legendary Psy Harmonics power house label. Now, "Cosmic trancer" is an album which today, despite some great and challenging music, is very dated. In fact, if you're not a die hard old school goa trance addict, I'd strongly recommend you spending your money elsewhere. The music is not easy to sink into. Not as nearly as complex and layered as most highly venerated classics from the era, the manner in which these two producers manipulate with what they had at their disposal is just awesome. Tracks like the opener Cosmic Trancer, and the last two tracks, Scorpio Sun Eclipse and Time Traveler Of Trance, are timeless classics, great psychedelic trance monsters from an era when the genre was pure, undilluted and was not concerned about fascinating the masses and lacked the burden of the often dissatisfied and grumpy fans which would plague the scene during its later years. It's a mile stone in goa trance, yeah, a timeless classic like some of its contemporaries it may not be, but for hisotrians of psychedelic music, this is an essential find and purchase. However, if your main associations with psy trance are recent(er) arrivals such as Zenon Records, Parvatti and what not, you would really want to listen to this one prior to making the purchase. Good luck finding it, though.
