"The material is suspended from a rubber band which, among other things, allows for pitch shifting. The aluminum instruments are bowed, stroked, tapped and caressed into producing a remarkably broad palette of textures and pitches. The resonant characteristics of piezo transducers are particular and provide for a certain timbral unity. [...] The studio where the recording is made is the same room where the birds live in their aviary. The birds were so inspired by the sound of the aluminum strips, that they immediately joined the music as improvising musicians and continued to play with us in an often very loud and competitive way for more than an hour."
