people keep banging on about how poor the quality of new records is, now I know what they mean.I have a copy that is pretty average. Makes me wonder how many of the sealed ones listed here as Mint at $80 a pop sound like total shit.Marketed and sold as a "deluxe" record give me a break hey. It's expensive, I'll give em that.
Marr
I'd love to know what the deal is with all the copies that were duds. My copy sounds fantastic. And loud! This is one of the louder records in my collection.
Simple
Awful pressing, sounds horrible & I'm still annoyed about it to this day. I guess it serves me right for buying-in to the "deluxe" sparkly rainbow-coloured glow in the dark limited edition gimmicky rubbish rather than just buying the standard record for, y'know, the music, which is what I have done ever since.
WUNDERKIND
Although I knew this pressing was a bit of a gamble, I got a perfect copy without any of the before mentioned background noise. The inner sleeves it comes with are really bad, though the colours are amazing on the individual LPs, even though my yellow one is a little more on the green side. I absolutely love this edition of the album, and if you are down for the gamble, get it.
Cheber
Awful production and pressing quality. Background noise, pops and clicks, distorted and compressed to death. A shame that products like this are sold without any serious quality control behind.
Yayrel
Am I the only one who got a copy with the standard LP sticker?
Lightwind
I got mine used and it plays perfect!!!!! A must have for electronic and XX fans. Also my first record through discogs marketplace. Never going back to Amazon!
Granigrinn
Got a brand new copy of this today. I only had static on the first record of the LP. It's due to the cheap, colored sleeves they used.
Xlisiahal
Definitely something wrong with the copy I got, so much background noise on all discs even during the first playing and nothing to do with dust.
Flamehammer
Apparently they re-pressed this from a new lacquer, as I have this exact release but the runout on the yellow disc reads YTLP122X BF82913-01-(E/F)1, and the red disc reads YTLP122X BF82912-01-(C/D)1. The blue does read YTLP122X BF82910-01-(A/B)1. All sound great.
Kamuro
Mine sounds great. So relieved. Feel bad for anyone who got a dud :(
Xava
Wow the noise on this is shocking!! I have never sent an LP back before but I think I will here! Was from Amazon
net rider
The Rest Is Noise is such a cool song. There's plenty of others here that I really like, but that one always gets me.Pretty controversial pressing here huh? I just picked my copy up very recently and it sounds fantastic, although disc 1 is a bit warped like someone else mentioned. So it has a bit of flutter at the start, but otherwise a pretty great sounding copy of this album. Seems like the earlier you bought this, the more likely you were to get a flawed copy and spend way more, and that really sucks.
Alsanadar
latest repress landed in phonica today. I gues this release is limited to how many times they re press it
Ydely
First copy (bought in june '15) had tonnes of surface noise even after removing the ridiculous amounts of static. Young Turks were cool enough to send me a replacement 6 months (!!) after purchase. While there was a ridiculous amount of static again and the first LP was a bit warped, it sounds absolutely fantastic so I'd guess it was a pretty large faulty batch at release.
Dibei
its been repressed again, juno got new stocks today.mine sound OK too but I got it on pre order along with the pre order of the ultra mega insanely ltd edition "hold tight" and 90% of the people who bought that say its sounds rubbish quality. and that was repressed a few times too.
Yramede
Mine sounds fine as well. Got it for Christmas, so maybe they made a new and better batch later on?
Gavirus
I must be the only person to have a good copy...
Knights from Bernin
Young Turks are dropping the ball with their vinyl releases recently. Not only does this release sound like garbage on vinyl, but so did their "In Colour" white label release.
Utchanat
I thought they did a second pressing that sounded better?Mine sounds great, slightly staticy, but not any worse than some new releases
Fenrikree
This pressing is absolute garbage. If not static, then whoosh. $45 for a CD. The rest is worthless.
Darksinger
Confusion reigns over the 3LP deluxe version. Marked clearly on the front sticker as Limited Edition, now Young Turks are saying it's not(?!?) https://twitter.com/youngturksrec/status/606226072116580354I suppose if no number is quoted on the edition then it's not limited in the way shoppers think. Effectively Young Turks are saying it's the same as any other release, in that they can decide to manufacture as many as they like - limited here means they'll limit the number they end up making - when, and how many that is, is open ended!!
Dead Samurai
it hasnt got a number of becuase they have not finished repressing it! juno have it AGAIN today (thats 3 represses by my record)
Wyameluna
Even after a cleaning, my records are still noisy. What a shame. Faulty pressing for sure. Confirmed by Young Turks:https://twitter.com/youngturksrec/status/613453805963866112
Redfury
a new 3LP deluxe? or the regular one?
Mezilabar
Has anybody gotten his free replacement via retailer, as suggested by Young Turks' twitter? If so, is it any better now?
Butius
Listening to a new one right at this moment.. sounds good.. no background noise or anything.. a few static type of pops can be heard 2-3 times per side.. normal 'quality' nova days .. these records shouldn't be kept into original inners.. anti static inners will do better
Painwind
Oh, that's static I hear? It sounded like a problem with the pressing. Probably both.
Reddefender
Ok right - fuck my last comment - the pressing is indeed fucking appalling (its not just a static problem here). just tested it against a 1994 enforcers plate (picture disc) on new Shure M447 carts and a perfectly balanced 1210 mkII with rubber mat - the results were hidious - the 94 plate sounded alive and took me back to the smoke filled rooms of the mid 90's. where as the colours (oh my gosh blue plate) sounded like headphone leakage next to a fat fucker eating a bag of crisps - No wonder they put the shitty slip card CD in with the package - fuck this shit - back to the shop for my $50 bucks ???? .......needs a recall. The artistic presentation has won the battle in this case with a real disapointing result of what is quite a brilliant collection of music by a talented young chap - Peace
Xarcondre
If you're wanting to listento this album on vinyl on a regular basis, I'd recommend going with the standard 33rpm black vinyl version. The deluxe looks nice and is a cool addition to a collection, but having the flip the record every 2 songs completely ruins the flow of the album and doesnt allow the listener to hear some of Jamie's intricite(and important) segues between songs...I think the cd will get more spins from me than the vinyl.
Manarius
This is an unfortunate truth. Trying to work while this is on is a nightmare, with only 6–9 minutes per side…
lucky kitten
With you on that one. I got it from Amazon UK who ended up refunding me and let me keep the records. Not that I plan on playing them ever again. Still that was nice of them. Will probably end up buying the black version.
mr.Mine
I also had tons of static on my first spin. I slipped the first disc into a Mofi anti-static sleeve and put it back on... and its a huge improvement. The paper sleeves do, indeed, seem to be the problem.Love this album so much, so hopefully this won't recur.
Wel
Paper sleeves a problem? Of what exactly? I stumbled upon your comment by accident and couldn't but wonder what you meant...I got shelves stacked with records bought in 1998, stored in paper sleeves, canned to infinity at my place, hammered fanatically by my mates at various strobo-struck clubs, and they are still playable today, albeit not new. While you have a brand spankig new record, which does not play all that well, and you assume that paper is to blame for that?Very large ??????? orbiting above my head.
Rainbearer
Yeah same experience here. The blue one is the main static offender, after taking it out and playing it a few times on a particularly humid day and the problem is practically gone.
Ber
in addition: the first disc (blue vinyl in the white sleeve) seems to be the main offender.
Barinirm
Had static issues, could hardly remove the records from the sleeves, but gave them a wipe with a sponge cloth and they seem to play fine. No issues with sound quality. Still a lovely package.
Dilkree
Firstly - coloured vinyl is always going to sound slightly wack - secondly invest in anti static liquid and store outside of the painfully tight sleeves .....quality control anyone ??!!!
Tygokasa
My pressing sounds great - Little to no surface noise.
Hrguig
Same here, I hear only silence when there is no sounds coming and still spinning the record.. No problems what so ever on this one!
Era
Although mine was a bit static-y to get out of at least the first sleeve, I didn't notice any bad surface noise. It actually played through very smoothly. Mine was also distributed by Matador.
virus
I had lots of static too. Could barley get disc 1 out of sleeve. It was the only one that had any noticeable static noise.
Ochach
Having tons of crackle too. Will try giving the records a good clean but the low quality paper sleeves seem to be the culprit.
Brol
To anyone having the crackle issue, I can confirm that after I washed my records (using a light detergent method I found on YouTube that I've used to refresh second hand records often) the crackle was greatly reduced.I think it might be the sleeves therefore, giving them a ton of static. I recommend you try a cleaning/anti static method of your choosing first before you go sending things back, as chances are you'll just get a fresh copy that exhibits the same crackle!
Adrierdin
What did you use to clean the records? I'm getting really bad pops and crackles right now. Must get rid of it!
Ƀ⁞₳⁞Ð Ƀ⁞Ǿ⁞Ɏ
Same here. Mainly the Blue one for me
Conjulhala
definitely the paper sleeves. I've never seen that type of plastic-y paper used for vinyls, there was so much static on it after I bought it I nearly couldn't pull it out of the sleeve, I though someone had glued it in
Dranar
such bad noise on pressing! So sad seems to be a recurring issue :(
Cointrius
If everybody is having the same problem, we should ask for a recall or something. It was a pricey thing. What do you guys think?
Kuve
OK Perfect! Let us know
Yla
'Clear' not 'Celar'
Nikojas
I'll make a decision after trying an anti-static clean of the records. I just bought some 'Celar Groove' cleaning solution with this in mind. It's only my blue record that is excessive, the others are fine, so my hunch is static.
Ral
I asked Young Turks on twitter if the 3LP 45rpm cut is limited. They said it's not.https://twitter.com/youngturksrec/status/606226072116580354
Gavirim
In Germany the difference is about 15 €, give or take. So glad I didn't open my colored vinyl yet - will send it back and get the black issue after everything I read here. Since it's mainly for listening it's the better choice for me anyway.
BlackBerry
Probably they are right. Cover of vinyl records does not have any information about number of limited discs or something like that. It is weird, because the difference of prices in Poland equals 10 PLN (~2,38 EUR) - so... it is better to buy "special edition".
Karg
It is a very good copy, but sleeves are "to light" - like a low quality paper. Unfortunately sleeves doesn't have an antistatic insert, so in the future or after buying probably it must be changed. Sometimes I hear crackling, but it is not annoying for me. My copy has been distributed by Sonic Records (Poland).
Wishamac
My copy (distributed by Matador) sounds really good. No issues with surface noise.
Kefrannan
Getting insane amount of crackle off this pressing. Does anyone else feel it's excessive?
Xar
LOTS of crackle - Way too much for my liking, seems to be lots of static from the packaging? - Any ideas how to reduce the static?
Zargelynd
It seems there's a few of us experiencing this mega crackle! I hadn't thought of the possibility it could be simply static from packaging, that's interesting (and indeed the sleeves for this record do seem to be quite plain ones and so may not be anti-static like some are.)Perhaps the crackle will diminsh over some plays? I might try washing the records with a weak detergent solution, something I do regularly with great results on second hand bought records.
Hurus
Outstanding album but the first (blue) record unfortunately has a lot of crackle. Incidentally, a few of the tracks (Seesaw in particular) sound quite cool played at 33rpm.
MisterQweene
Use a recordcleaner or a antistatic brush to get rid of the static crackle. I played The Rest Is Noise at 33rpm: is nice too!
Manemanu
Amazing album, but my blue vinly (side A/B) has a LOT of crackle on it. I know this can happen with coloured vinyl, but it feels excessive. Anyone else experienced this?
Xaluenk
Did anyone else noticed a piece of the intro on A2 - Sleep Sound missing, or did I get a bad copy?
HappyLove
The album versions of Sleep Sound and Girl are different from the single release.
Vozilkree
hows the sound quality on this pressing?
Ungall
Some noise on the extras
Bremar
Does this come with the CD? thanks
Lailace
the Triple LP right? or was a there a limited edition of the Triple LP that I don't know about?
Steelrunner
Yes the limited edition
Nawenadet
yes! cd included
