Dark In The Jungle was part of the first wave of the 'long synth intro' type tracks that later became known as intelligent jungle/dnb and associated very much with Bukem. The problem with the later popularity was that loads of tracks had this style of intro and while this is good to drop as a set starter or a quick chop to change the mood mid-set, or even as a set-ender (it is nothing if versatile), and although I did enjoy the challenge of finding tracks that would work with the intro in the mix, if you had a crate full of them before the days of key-shifting, these tracks could really put the brakes on the energy of a set.I guess it's a bit unfair to go into this in a review of a particular record, and one that is so well done. I suppose it provides some context maybe. When these tracks were released, like Demon's Theme, DJ Crystl's Meditation, even Omni Trio's original Mystic Stepper, and a few others, they were really quite a nice breath of fresh air and an indication that producers were starting to progress beyond sampling the 3rd gen sample of a orchestral stab or piano chord, or ripping whole synth sections of other house records, although as it turns out Bukem still did that (see while getting the credit for the genre, although it's fair to say he pushed the style so I will not quibble on that one.Anyway, I think this is an essential track and definitely one of my favourites of the label. 5/5.

I bought this track when it first come out and to this day I am always drawn to this epic 12". This was well before it's time deep bass breakbeat that was pure blissful.. nothing at the time went really well with this 12" except a few basement tunes. And anthill mob. Also tango bouncing. To this day I am still drawn to these two tracks. I'm listening to it now. Both tunes touch my soul. That's deep I know Epic . Epic . Epic tracks. Produced by jaz e and jaz j. Respect. Also produced at Monroe studios that had a top class tune with DJ fokus. Respect.
