Very Old Chap
The artist who hails from Spanish Castile presents his very promising debut album on the label 'Rage In Eden' (former: War Office Propaganda/PL). A hodgepodge of varied ideas, styles and blends thereof. It consists of 15 titles, 6 of them shorter than 2:30, which is especially in the Martial Industrial and Neoclassical genre highly unusual. He is wasting a number of opportunities, and the listener has a difficult time to adjust to the mood of the songs. I, as a DJ, get a bleeding heart, and instantaneously feel need to extend some tracks to 6:30, respectively make a remix of it.Why?, because the material yields a tremendous potential, colleagues would have made 3 CDs out of it. This is the main critique on the album. He should have saved some motives for the second album, instead of giving a rudimentary impression. The drums are the defining element in Martial Industrial, and here they are played in a wide range, multi-faceted, without sounding cheap. I am particularly fond of the vocals on pieces like 'Exilio' and 'Helligkeit'. The latter one, with female vocals reminds of "Rosa Crvx" in a new Dark Electro look with martial tunes. The dark 'The Borderline', with its delayed female vibrato vocals, and the organ-like keyboard, conjures up an electronic Diamanda Galás.The Gregorian Chant is initially hard to get accustomed to, but quite compelling. To be heard on the video of 'Tenebrae', which represents along with the hymnic 'Vanguard', the most accessible track to this powerful, brooding opus.I hope that many more releases are yet to come by this talented artist. For my part, I will certainly look forward to the future development of 'Suveräna'.This shall be perceived as a stimulus. Then the way is paved in a sovereign manner, to the Avant-garde in this exciting genre.Fenris W.http://wolfhall.org/shtml/mu_re.shtml#Suver%C3%A4na
